A Personal Anthology

Colors are all around us everywhere. In our daily lives we don't notice them because we are used to them. However colors effect us and our lives, relationships, our mood and much more things than those. We can not live a normal life without colors. Can you imagine a world which is black and white? It would be so boring and uncreative; maybe all of our life styles, maybe the species, maybe the world would be totally a different place - even though there would have been two colors left. It would be so sad. Yes, our lives are related to colors. Colors change our lives, we choose colors those fit our lives. They represent us. So, what color are you?

This personal anthology is a collection of short stories, poems, non-fiction, art and music that expresses that colors are everywhere in our lives.

In the short stories''The Rainbow'' and ''The Colorless Tiger'' we get two different views on the use of colors in our lives. In the first story, all the colors think that they are so perfect that they don't actually realize that they can form rainbow until rain informs them. The second story is the story of a pent up, unfortunate tiger in a zoo. His lack of color makes him famous. Lots and lots of painters try to paint him, but none of them succeds until Van Cough comes. He whispers in the tiger's ear, '' In just a few days you will be free again, you shall see.'' Just the idea of freedom makes the tiger so happy that he presents the most vivid colors. I think both of the stories have deep messages. The first one warn us to watch for effectuating something perfect with solidarity. The second one makes us notice how much freedom means to all animals and also to all organisms.

The three poems I've chosen are ''Color'', ''Colors Passing Through Us'' and ''Hailstones and Halibut Bones''. The first poem, by Christina Rossetti, uses simplicity to describe the qualities of the colors. The second poem, by Marge Piercy, not just uses imagery in an artistic way, but also uses advanced examples. The third poem, by Mary O’Neill, is a fluent poem which has an impressive ending.

The non-fiction text and song lyric (with related video) I've chosen for the anthology take us into the 22nd Century - at least the video - with all the aliens, spaceships and other stuff. ''How to Pick the Perfect Colors for Our Lives'' describes the meanings of the colors cognizably, so it doesn't bore you. In fact, you want to read more of it to see which color are you generally or which color were you yesterday? '' I'm Blue '' is the title of a song sung by Eiffel 65 and performed in the video by the group members and also some aliens. The song expresses that we don't need to do anything if we already have everything we want by saying everything's blue in the blue guy's blue world.

Finally, the four art pieces I've chosen all relate to my theme: Colors in Our Lives.

I hope you enjoy this personal anthology and that it gets you thinking about this topic in different ways.
